Bolting at Flatrock

Finally, My first time out on the rock this year! Leo and Nole were bolting a two routes on Main Face, Flatrock. I tagged alolong to try shooting from on the wall. I climbed up, clipped to the anchor then Noel came up and rappelled down drilling holes as he went. I followed on an adjacent route. I got to use some of my new gear!

Unfortunaly none of the images are any good for iStock, either they are not good pix, or they are reasonable, but have a logo on a drill, clothing or other gear. Something to think about for next time. Posted by Picasa

Sand Banks

After Lomond we headded for Sand Banks Provincial Park in Burgeo, on the south coast of the island. We camped about 100m from this beach, it was a short walk over the dunes. Posted by Picasa

View of Killdevil Mt. through a meadow of flowers

Lomond and Stanleyville are both communities that were resettled when Gross Morne National park was created. The only sign of the old homes are the garden plants still growing in the area. Posted by Picasa

Geocache maintenance

The geocache we placed on the stanleyville trail in july of 2002 had gotten a bit wet and was in poor condition. It seems quite popular so we decided to referbish it so we made a new container, it should be bomb proof, it even looks like a bomb!

Want to see it's web page .

Back home... and off again

I got home yesterday after about 4 weeks in Timmins. Michelle has a few days off work, so we have decided to take a little holiday, we plan to drive across the Island to Burgeo and explore that part of the Island.
I'll try to post some pix, but I don't know how much internet access I'll find.

All done at Timmins now. We drove down to Toronto today and are flying back to St. John's tomorrow. We had a bit of time to have a look around this afternoon. I wanted t oexperimant with the 10 - 20mm, it is a bit of a challange in an urban environment. Posted by Picasa

Snakes

These little guys live in a hole in the road where we ride the ATV every day, they pop their heads out as we approach. There was 5 in there, and they all tried to get out at once, it was a bit of a squeeze! I think they are Garter snakes. Posted by Picasa

Neil is working here in Timmins with me now. He fell the other day and tore his bug jacket, the flies took advantage of this opportunity for a snack. Posted by Picasa
